Lake Windermere Whiteway
Lake Windermere Whiteway Trail Conditions:
Jan 17, 2012, - Lake Windermere Whiteway has tracks set again...good condition is between Kinsmen and Windermere on the west side of the lake and then Windermere to Indiana Beach, the east side is just OK.
Jan 15, 2012 - New tracks set at lake Lillian, brilliant ski condition!!!
Dec 31, 2012, The first X-C classic and skate-ski tracks have been set on the lake.
They went down good but not great. Not really enough snow but better than nothing. Everyone out there was pretty excited about tracks. Better get out there sooner than later with so little snow it was hard to tell where I track-set and the motor heads are all over it. The best places for good tracks are the areas with the least amount of traffic.
The ice is averaging out at 8 inches , it will take some more time till we hit 12 inches so I can plow with the truck. I have to say the ice surface overall was not looking that good for ice-skating, lots of wet spots and concrete hard snow drifts.
March 10, 2012, Lake Windermere Whiteway and Lake Lillian ski trails are closed for the season. Spring is arriving. Be safe and stay off these lakes until next winter!
Feb. 17, 2012, Lake Windermere Whiteway cleared for ice skating with great conditions. Also trackset for classic and skate skiing. Happy Family Day!

Feb 1, 2012, Lake Lillian excellent skiing for skate and classic after grooming yesterday. Snow has some melt-freeze and is abrasive - try warmer waxes.
Jan 25, 2012: Lake Lillian trackset again after a night of very high winds and drifting. Ice skating remains very good on Lake Windermere, with the odd snow drift to dodge.

The Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club is proud to promote and maintain the Lake Windermere Whiteway. The Whiteway is a 15km groomed track that runs all the way around the lake and connects the towns of Invermere and Windermere. The Whiteway has tracks for classic cross-country skiers, a groomed skate skiing track, and a cleared ice-skating track. There are three official entry points onto the Whiteway; one at Kinsmen beach in Invermere, one at the Invermere Bay Condos in Invermere, and one at Windermere beach. Each entry point has a large timber frame sign which provides user information, maps, information about the local Nordic skiing club, and a donation box.
The Nordic Club asks that users either pay an individual day-use fee of $5, or purchase a membership to the club. Memberships and donations can be completed online, by mail or dropped in the secure donation boxes at information kiosks found on the Whiteway. The funds are used to provide on-going maintenance of the track throughout the winter months. Club members are also covered by group insurance through Cross Country BC while using the Whiteway.
The club asks that users respect that the tracks are for non-motorized use only, and clean-up after their dogs on the lake.
The Whiteway is a unique and exciting addition to local winter recreation activities. The tracks enable users to easily access a well-maintained recreation area in the heart of our communities while participating in a low carbon footprint activity. Winter recreationalists of all abilities and ages are welcome on the Whiteway – we hope to see you there!
